Senior team:: Last Sunday 24th Na Gaeil hosted Glenbeigh-Glencar in Round 4 of the County League Div 2. A blistering start by Na Gaeil saw them up 1-4 to nil after 10 minutes.

Gradually Glenbeigh-Glencar began to settle and added 2 points as Na Gaeil tagged on 1 more.

Tommy Cahill got through for a goal for Glenbeigh-Glencar to bring them right back into the game and when they added 2 more points Na Gaeil were just a single point ahead.

Na Gaeil stemmed the tide with the last point of the half to leave the halftime score Na Gaeil 1-6, Glenbeigh-Glencar 1-4. Na Gaeil added 2 points at the start of the 2nd half but Glenbeigh-Glencar dominated the next 15 minutes adding 6 points without reply to lead by 2 with just minutes remaining.

A Dara Devine free cut the margin to a single point as the game ticked into injury time. Na Gaeil threw the kitchen sink at Glenbeigh-Glencar and it was full back Niall O’Mahony who was at the end of a move and coolly popped the ball over the bar for the crucial equaliser.

A “Thank You” from Seán O’Connor:  I wish to thank Na Gaeil GAA Club, Chairman Tim Lynch for his kind words, the ladies committee, Margaret Doody, Cathy Carey, Jennie Sheehy, Tracy Hurley, Jackie Carlos and the many others in the background who organised such a wonderful Retirement party for me on 26th March.

Over the years I had great support from past chairmen and all the committees, thank you. Thank you to all the bar staff who made my work easy, and to Johnny who is the last man standing of the old bar staff but possibly happiest seated on the mower!

Of course I cannot forget the great customers who came through the doors and kept us busy, many thanks to all. Thank you to all who attended on the night and for the good wishes, texts, cards and gifts I received.

I want to wish Na Gaeil and all involved in the Club, every success and best wishes for the future. To Jackie, keep the flag flying! And finally thank you to my family for all their support. Many thanks to everyone.

U9 boys: Our u9 teams played Ballymac in na Gaeil last Thursday night in the second of their Go-Games. Well done boys!

U11 boys: Both our U11 teams had fantastic performances against Kerins O’ Rahillys in Pat Healy Park last Thursday night. Some fantastic tackling matched by scoring and team play came to the fore on the night. Well done everyone. Next Thursday 28th we are due to host Spa.

U13 boys: Our Green team played Firies in Na Gaeil last Sunday evening and it was a great match. Na Gaeil started a bit better and got some great early scores. Firies to their credit never gave up and got some good scores also. Halftime score was Na Gaeil 3-6 and Firies 1-3.

The second half was similar and both teams played great football. Final score was Na Gaeil 5-10 to Firies 3-7. Our White team played Firies last Sunday too and it was a real tough battle for Na Gaeil against a strong physical Firies team.

Both teams played great football but Firies linked up better and went in at halftime up 2-1 to 0-3. Second half we conceded 3 early goals but our lads never gave up and showed great character throughout the game. Final score Firies 5-6 to Na Gaeil 0-5. Thanks to Firies for two sporting games.

U15 boys: Last Wednesday night our u15s travelled to play Milltown Castlemaine in round 4 of the Div 3B County League. The first half was evenly contested with little between the teams at any stage but Milltown-Castlemaine held a narrow lead of 0-6 to 0-5 at halftime.

They had the better of the early part of the 2nd half and stretched their lead to 5 points. Then Na Gaeil enjoyed a purple patch scoring 2-5 to just a single point for Milltown-Castlemaine to put us 5 points clear with 15 minutes remaining.

However it was Milltown-Castlemaine who finished the stronger to take the win on a scoreline of Milltown-Castlemaine 3-11, Na Gaeil 2-12.

Overall it was a good performance by our lads considering we were missing a few lads due to injury.
