AN Oasis-mad local teenager is to play a gig next month for a great cause while also promoting his debut single.
Fifteen-year-old Luke Dennehy has had a whirlwind few days after he was invited to attend the Irish premiere of the new Oasis film, ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ at Cineworld in Dublin on Monday night.
The Mercy Mounthawk TY student has been a massive fan of the Mancunian band for as long as he can remember and he has now launched his own music project.

“Oasis has been the main inspiration, but I’ve been into to music from a very young age. Since I could talk I was singing,” said Luke.
“I’ve always had a mix of artists I like, such as Queen and Elton John, but when I heard Oasis I was like ‘whoa!’ I had never felt anything like it. It was life-changing,” he added.
Luke was lucky enough to get tickets for one of their Croke Park gigs last year.
“It was brilliant, I can’t fully put it into words about how unbelievable it was. Everyone was there for the same reason, it was such an amazing day out,” he explained.
As well as Oasis, Kerry FC is also a passion of Luke’s and after the club’s amazing FAI cup run last year, he has penned a new song ‘To Be Back In October’ which will be officially launched at Charlie’s Bar & Bistro at Kerins O’Rahillys GAA Club on Saturday, October 17 from 7pm.
He decided to donate the proceeds of sales of the CD on the night to a great cause.
“Thanks to my club, Tralee Dynamos, I had a heart screen through the Dillon Quirke Foundation and I found out they rely entirely on donations, so I thought it would be nice to do something for them,” said Luke.
Margaret Kissane of Charlie’s Bar and Bistro said; “Luke is an up and coming local artist and we’re delighted to support him. We look forward to hosting him for what should be a great night.”
Luke also wanted to thank local businesses who have donated over 20 spot prizes for a raffle on the night. He has set up an iDonate fundraising page which has already raised nearly €900 for the charity (click here to go to the page)
