THE family of the late Tom Begley say they are delighted that the annual Kerins O’Rahillys 10k run and 5k fun run will remember the club stalwart.
Held in association with FBD Insurance, this year’s run will take place on Sunday, January 29, in honour of Tom who passed away in February 2022.
Described as one of the best volunteers the club ever had, the native of Ballydavid became involved with the juveniles when he started working as a teacher in CBS Primary in Clounalour in the early 1980s.

He later joined the senior executive and was one of its most active workers for many years right until his untimely death.
Tom’s son Patrick said the family were honoured that the club is running the event in his memory.
“It’s a great honour for my father to be recognised by the club. While there was no connection to the club when he arrived here — because he was a Gaeltacht man — he became immersed in the club very early on. He loved when the club was doing well on and off the field. He would have loved this year with the seniors winning Munster and going on to the All-Ireland semi-final.”
