AN incredible amount of money was raised for the Kerry Hospice Foundation in memory of a well-known Tralee businessman who passed away late last year.

Leslie Benner of Kerry Motor Works, passed away on November 25 after receiving several weeks of care at the Palliative Care Unit.

The Benner family wanted to give something back after the amazing care he received from everyone at the Unit, so a fundraiser was organised at the dealership at the Mile Height in December.

Customers and friends donated at Kerry Motor Works, a gofundme page was also set up and the family themselves made a generous donation which amounted to €25,200.

All at Kerry Motor Works thanked everyone who donated prizes and who contributed towards the fundraiser.

The Benner family were present for the cheque presentation to Mary Shanahan of Kerry Hospice and Head of Palliative Care at UHK, Dr Patricia Sheahan, at the Day Unit on Friday afternoon.

“We’d like to thank Kerry Motor Works and the Benner family for this generous donation, it all goes towards the Palliative Care Unit who care for patients from all over the county,” said Mary Shanahan.
