LAST Sunday saw St. Pats GAA host their annual fundraising Dingle Way Challenge.

The weather on the morning was dry with a strong wind as participants for the Ultra route gathered at the clubhouse as early as 5am for registration and briefing on safety from the organising committee.

The walk itself was 46km long for the very fit ultra-participants and began at the beautiful scenery around the Dingle Peninsula, Mac Na Bó, Annascaul Lake, Inch Beach, Maumnahaltóra Peat Bogs, Killelton Oratory, Finglas River, Derrymore-Curraheen Reservoir, Tonevane and finished with a heroes’ welcome back in Blennerville.

The Standard route participants had walk begin at Annascaul which had them trek the final 33km back to Blennerville.

Participants were treated to breakfast in Annascaul Community Hall, and a water stop if needed here and were treated to light refreshments in Camp.

This year’s walk had beautiful scenery from West Kerry and of course the beautiful town of Dingle.  The participants were met by members of the organising committee with a DWC medal, water, and lots of refreshments.

The first Ultra Man to arrive at the finishing line was Brian O’Regan and First Woman in the Ultra was Aoife O’Sullivan.

After all the walking was done, all were invited to sit down under the marquee at the club for a BBQ and a chance to interact with other walkers and members of the community.

Overall, the event was successful to date with 240 participants ensuring that all the hard work put by the committee and club in general paid off.

The Dingle Way Challenge website which was recently launched www.dinglewaychallenge.ie will showcase all of this year’s photos and allow people to see the route once decided next year for 2027. Scroll down for photos…
