ELEVEN volunteers from Aspen Grove took to the beach at Derrymore Strand for a large-scale litter pick last week, continuing their support of Tralee Tidy Towns and the marine life of Tralee Bay.
A total of seven bags of marine litter – including food wrappers, fishing gear and microplastics were collected from 6kms of coastline.
Maeve Townend, Head of Corporate Affairs at Aspen Grove said: “The Aspen Grove team always enjoy being involved in Community initiatives. It’s brilliant to see the difference a few hours and some willing hands can make, and we’re proud to support the work Tidy Town does for Tralee all year round.”

Martha Farrell of Tralee Tidy Towns said: “The continuous support of Aspen Grove is making a difference. We hope that through these collaborative efforts, we will build pride in Tralee and the beaches around it – particularly as beaches like Derrymore are of huge importance to our wildlife.”

“We would also like to acknowledge the support of the Kerry County Council Tralee MD in this litter pick, Clean Coasts who support us with beach clean kit and our own Tralee Tidy Towns Chair, Brendan O’Brien who collected the bags afterwards.”
