GAELCHOLÁÍSTE Chiarraí was packed to the rafters last night as the Transition Year students wowed the audience with their production of ‘Stage Fright’, penned by Mary Quirke of Qwerkreation Productions.
They also staged two matinees for their own students on Wednesday morning and performed in front of 240 students from Mercy Mounthawk, CBS The Green, Presentation Secondary School and St. Ita’s and St. Joseph’s on Thursday morning.
Mary is a well known Tralee Playwright having recently written and directed her sell-out comedy ‘Where There’s a Will’.

She wanted to highlight some of the trials and tribulations of teens and hopes some of these sensitive topics might be conversation starters.
This was balanced by songs from ABBA, Simon & Garfunkel, Cyndi Lauper, Blondie, Kenny Loggins, Kingfishr, The Spice Girls, One Direction, Queen, The Pointer Sisters, The Proclaimers, Callum Scott, Picture This, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Bonnie Tyler, Coldplay, Back Street Boys and Rachel Platten, with audiences invited to sing along and share in the fun.

This production is the fifth show brought to the stage by Mary and the TY students of Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí following the standout achievements of earlier favourites including ‘Til Death do us Part’, ‘A Family Affair’, ‘All’s Well that ends Well’ and last year’s ‘Summer Dreams’.
This underscores the school’s strong commitment to nurturing creativity through drama and the wider arts within the curriculum.

Comprising a cast of 29, these students were supported by the wider TY team, with all other students contributing their skills in front of house, backstage support, sound and technical, props, stage design, and PR/marketing.
It was a huge team effort—and audiences were blown away by their spectacular showcase of talent. Scroll down for photos…
