THERE was a packed theatre for the screening of the new film by local producer James McCarthy and his wife Catherine at Siamsa Tire on Friday night.
The couple from Fenit were delighted with the turnout for the two-hour film, ‘Ardfert — A Historical Gem’, which was two years in the making and explores a village is steeped in history, from St Brendan the navigator to Roger Casement, and much more.
In the documentary, they take the viewer back in time and reveal some of what was discovered during the archaeological excavations carried out on Ardfert Cathedral, the ruins of which still stand proud today.

They also take you through the history of the friary, Banna Sea Rescue and discover a little more about Roger Casement.
