THANKFULLY, there were far more smiles than frowns on a sunny Friday morning as students from the five secondary schools received their Leaving Certificate results.

While many look at the results online, more like to return to their schools to meet friends and get the envelope in person.

There was delight at CBS The Green where students and their parents gathered in the assembly are for teas and coffees. Over 150 sat the exam in June and Principal Robert Flaherty was pleased with how the students were reacting to their results.

“From walking around the school today, I see they are all delighted with the results. Many feel they got what they wanted. They’re a phenomenal bunch of lads. We’ve had a brilliant year with them through sport and science achievements and we’re delighted for them as they come to the end of their journey with us,” said the Principal.

The story was the same a stone’s throw away at Presentation Secondary School as the young ladies queued up to collect their results, with parents also joining them in assembly for refreshments to discuss the achievements.

Over in Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí, Príomhoide Ruairí Ó Cinnéide reflected on the results as students made their way in.

“We has 62 students and the vast majority are very happy. The results are very solid, they’ve been a great class and have done exceptionally well. It’s great to see such excitement around the place,” he added.

Principal of Mercy Mounthawk, Pat Fleming, said he is proud of what the students have achieved.

“We had 211 students sitting the Leaving Cert and 11 more for the Leaving Cert Applied, so it’s a large cohort by any scale. We are delighted with the results. If you look at H1s, we’re getting double the averages in languages, practical subjects, arts subjects and physics.”

“We’ve a lot of smiling faces and huge relief too. What’s great is that they get their results online now, so it’s not as stressful a situation as it used to be coming to the school. They just come in, meet friends, celebrate and share in their good news,” said Mr Fleming.

Principal of Coláiste Gleann Lí, Charlie O’Doherty, welcomed the students to the school this morning and congratulated them on their achievements.

“Coláiste Gleann Lí is delighted to congratulate our Leaving Certificate Class of 2026 on receiving their results today. We are extremely proud of the achievements, dedication and resilience shown by our students throughout their senior cycle journey,” said Mr O’Doherty.

“These results reflect years of hard work, commitment and perseverance by our students, supported every step of the way by their families, teachers and the wider school community. Today marks an important milestone in their lives and a moment to celebrate their efforts and accomplishments.

“At Coláiste Gleann Lí, we recognise that success takes many forms. Whether our students are progressing to university, further education, apprenticeships, training programmes or employment, we are confident that they have developed the skills, knowledge and values needed to thrive in the next stage of their lives,” said Mr O’Doherty.

Well done to all on the results and enjoy the celebrations. Scroll down for photos…
