YOUNG musicians from the Music Generation Kerry String Ensemble and members of Cór Seoda Tíre took to the stage in front of a full house at Siamsa Tíre on Sunday, April 19, for a landmark performance celebrating 40 years of Music Network, alongside internationally acclaimed classical music stars Trio Bohémo.

The concert featured a performance of The Unconquerable Soul, a powerful new work by Irish composer Rhona Clarke. Written for the unusual combination of piano trio, choir and string ensemble, the piece brought together young performers and professional musicians in a striking collaboration.

Commissioned by Music Network, in collaboration with Music Generation it celebrates the long-standing relationship between the two organisations.

In the months leading up to the performance, the choir worked closely with their conductors and choral specialist Alan Leech, while the young string players rehearsed intensively with Music Generation Musician Educators.

The groups came together in March for a dedicated rehearsal with Trio Bohémo and conductor, and proud Kerry woman, Amy Ryan, culminating in a memorable performance as part of the trio’s national tour. Scroll down for photos…
