THE last time over 1,000 people attended a Kerins O’Rahillys event in The Brandon was 14 years ago at a gala dinner to celebrate the club’s last county senior football title success a few months before.
Well many of that team were back in the venue last night for a night filled with fun and no little style, on and off the dance floor.
They watched one of that team from 2002, Ger ‘Mush’ O’Brien, in scintillating form with his dance partner, Teresa O’Brien performing their Saturday Night Fever inspired routine. But then again, all couples were excellent on the night.

The dancers taking part were Ogie Moran and Eileen O’Shea; Ger O’Brien and Teresa O’Brien; Dominic Rollo Walker and Rosie McGrath; John Fitzgerald and Sharon Walsh; Jessica and Mike Lynch; Claire Molloy and Paul Ryan; Trisha Moran and Declan O’Carroll; Catriona Kennedy and Rob O’Connor; Kevin Finn and Marcella Daly; Martin Nix and Catriona O’Sullivan; Brian Tigger O’Dowd and Shannon Mcinnerney; John T O’Sullivan and Christina Curtin.
As reported before, Ogie Moran and Eileen O’Shea won the public vote, while the judges award went to Rosie McGrath and Dominic Walker.
The MCs for the evening, Brian Hurley and Margaret Kissane did a fantastic job and the fun continued into the early hours. Here’s some of the many people attending on the night (more to come later)…
