Mike O’Halloran reports on the Kerry Senior Hurling Championship Final yesterday in Austin Stack Park…

Abbeydorney Hurling Club 0-23

Ballyduff GAA 0-17

A six point win for the champions who have put back to back wins in the championship finals.
While the scoreboard records a six point margin the real story is that the win was much more comprehensive than that.

Abbeydorney were in charge from beginning to end.

Abbeydorney have proven without doubt that they are the best team in Kerry by a country mile. While Abbeydorney were at one time regarded as a one man team, this performance was a twenty man demolition of Ballyduff.

Michael O’Leary won the man of the match award but he was surely run close for that gong by Oisin Maunsell, James O’Connor, Mike Slattery and Jack Sheehan.

Ballyduff could never get within striking distance despite the efforts of Padraig Boyle, Luke Rochford and the excellent Adam Segal and Evan Boyle.

Ballyduff threw everything at the champions but to no avail.

While the twenty players who lined out for Abbeydorney played well, at least five Ballyduff players were not at their best for Ballyduff and had no answer for the power skill and determination of Abbeydorney.

Abbeydorney answered every query put to them and given this form they will give the Munster Intermediate championship a right rattle.

Not alone will they do well in Munster they will be a force to reckon with for a few years to come, their power skill and game management reminds me a little bit of the great Kilmoyley team.
