Mike O’Halloran reports on the Kerry SHC game between Tralee Parnells and Causeway played at Austin Stack Park on Sunday…

Causeway 1-19

Tralee Parnells 4-10

Causeway scored 20 times to Parnell’s fourteen but it was not enough to win the game. Causeway led at halftime 1-12 to 0-05 and I could not see a way back for Parnells but how wrong I was.

Eoghan Costello opened the scoring for Parnells, Causeway had the next five scores. On ten minutes Oisin O’Brien had Parnell’s second point, Keith Carmody had the next two scores.

Gearoid Mahony found Mark Murphy who scored a goal from an acute angle. The score on sixteen minutes was Causeway 1-07 to Parnell’s 0-03.

Eoghan Costello had the final score of the first half, halftime score Causeway 1-12 Parnell’s 0-05. A minute into the second half an error by the Causeway let Eoghan Costello in for a goal.

That goal energised Parnells. On forty minutes another misjudgement led to another Parnells goal, the margin now down to four points 1-16 to 2-09.

Diarmuid came up from his goals to blast a free to the net 3-10 now to 1-18.

Brandon Barrett must have thought he had secured the win for Causeway, but a long ball was dropped into the Causeway square the ball broke to Oisin O’Brien he pulled on the ball to the net.

Final score Causeway 1-19 Tralee Parnells 4-10.

Parnells must have a great chance to progress to the next round when they meet Abbeydorney next week.
