THERE was a good turnout at the Kerins O’Rahilly’s Club on Thursday for a quiz night to help send a local woman on a fund-raising trek in Spain.
Tralee native Sharon Hayes organised the event in an effort to raise funds for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind charity in support of her upcoming trip to Spain to undertake the enormous feat of trekking 100km of the Camino de Santiago Walk.
Sharon travels to Spain in September to begin the walk just over the border from Portugal before heading towards Santiago de Compostela.

Well-known Oakpark man, Mike O’Donnell performed the MC duties and their was a huge amount of spot-prizes generously donated by local businesses.
“Businesses in town have been very generous with the spot prizes and I want to thank them for that. They’ve been fantastic,” said Sharon.
All proceeds from the night were raised in aid of the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, a charity that is dedicated to helping persons who are blind or vision impaired.
