U6’s

Well, done to everyone today, especially our players of the week! The practice at home is definitely paying off.

U10 Girls

Lots of fun this morning on our last indoor session at MTU – back to the field next week.!!
We kept it light with lots of fun movement and co-ordination games, kicking, and rounded off with a lively game that everyone got stuck into.! Well, done girls for showing such great friendship in welcoming Millie and Amia to the group… they fitted in immediately and made a great contribution.

U14 Boys

St Pats welcomed Castleisland Desmond’s for this round of the County League, with a much-changed side taking to the field due to a number of absentees. Despite missing a large portion of the squad, the players who lined out showed great commitment throughout. Desmonds started the stronger and were more efficient in front of goal in the opening half.

St Pats, while not at their best, stayed well in touch through sheer determination and work rate. Goals from Cillian Enright (2) and Rylan Flynn kept us right in the contest, leaving the half-time score at St Pats 3-2 to Desmond’s 3-4.

There was a big improvement after the break. The work rate lifted all over the pitch, with AJ Turner solid in goals and the defence of Bruce McMillan, Paddy Costello and Jake Connolly tightening up well.

The half-back line of Darragh Sheehan, Cian O’Regan and Fionn Lyons began to drive the team forward, while midfielders Leo Paczuski and Jace Flynn covered huge ground. Up front, Rylan Flynn, Oscar Curran and Jack Vahey worked tirelessly, with James O’Riordan, Cillian Enright and deputant Sean Andreucetti continuing to threaten and take their chances.

Contributions from all players, including an impressive Aaron Costello, were vital as St Pats edged ahead late in the game. With just two minutes remaining, St Pats led by a single point and looked in control.

However, Desmonds struck for a late goal to go two points ahead. St Pats responded immediately and battled back to within a point, but time ran out before they could find the equaliser. Full Time: St Pats 5-6 Castleisland Desmond’s 5-7

In the next round we are at home to Annascaul/Lios Poil on Tuesday 14h of April at 7pm.

U16 Boys

U16 Central League Round 2:
Castleisland Desmonds 5-13
Castlegregory/St Pats 1-13

The final score in last Thursday’s Central Region U16 game played in Castleisland does not do justice to the endeavours of our lads.

With 8 minutes to go, the margin was down to 4 points following a well worked goal, scored by Stephen Enright. However, Desmond’s kicked on in the final minutes with some spectacular two-point efforts and another goal to seal the victory. Castle/St Pats started brightly scoring a well worked point from the throw in.

They dominated the kickout battle for the majority of the first half, but Desmond’s kept in touch with two fortuitous goals either side of the half time whistle keeping them within touching distance. HT score Desmonds 2-02 Castle/Pats 0-09.

Desmond’s scored two further goals in the third quarter to open a sizeable lead but credit to our lads, they never gave up with some direct running from Eddie Hayes causing the opposing defence big problems.

However, it was not to be for our lads and congratulations to Desmonds on their victory and also to referee Billy Lacey for doing a fine job officiating. Our next game is a home game against Annascaul/Lispole next Thursday night at 7pm in the Central League. Venue will be confirmed.
