THE annual Connect Kerry Hair and Beauty Awards was another glamorous affair on Sunday with 170 attending the event in The Rose Hotel.
Winners from all over Kerry were announced, chosen through an application and submission of images of their work by a panel of judges who are all experienced in the industry.
“We were delighted to welcome a room full of experienced and talented individuals from across the county,” said Margaret Kissane of Connect Publications.

HIGH-ACHIEVING women, fabulous fashion and fine foods?
Then that would be the Connect Kerry Women In Business Awards which were held at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Friday night.
Over 300 guests attended the occasion where they enjoyed a bubbly reception outside the front of the hotel in the lovely sunshine. Then it was upstairs to the main event where broadcaster and PR consultant, John Drummey, once again proved a genial and entertaining host for the night.

THE annual Connect Hair and Beauty Awards will once again return for 2023 and nominations are being sought in a number of categories.
Taking place in The Rose Hotel on March 26, experts in the Hair and Beauty industry from across the county will be honoured for their hard work and dedication.
“This event is the only one of its kind in Kerry and we here in Connect are proud to do so, to give the recognition to those that truly deserve it,” said Margaret Kissane of Connect Publications.

LADIES can kick off Christmas in style this Sunday, November 27, when the annual Connect Ladies Lunch takes place in Lotties at The Ashe Hotel, Tralee.
Expect some bubbly on arrival, great food, fine wines, style, beauty and hair tips, on what is always a fabulous afternoon and a great idea for a Christmas party or get-together for ladies.

The Inaugural Connect Kerry Men of Kerry Awards was hosted on Friday night at Ballyroe Heights Hotel, with over 300 attending a gala ceremony which saw many men of Kerry being recognised for their achievements.
The night began with a special presentation and tribute to the late Padraig Harnett who was part of the finalists line up, but sadly passed away recently.
A lovely video tribute was put together by co-host John Drummey, with representatives from the world of sport extolling Padraig’s selfless and amazing contribution to Kerry sport over the years. He is sadly missed.

Padraig was inducted into the Hall of Fame which was launched at the event and is the first ever recipient. Many more awards were given for different areas of life (see full list below) with the judges Tralee Chamber President Nathan McDonnell, Orla Diffily of Upfront PR, Helen Brick from Kerry College, Brian Looney of AIB and Mark Hussey of Cara Credit Union having a tough task.
Speaking at the event, organiser Margaret Kissane of Connect Publications said, “it’s wonderful to see such a selection of talented men being recognised for what they do daily. Following the success of our Women in Business and other awards this awards night was created to recognise and honour men, it’s a first for Kerry and indeed for Ireland as a dedicated Men’s awards hasn’t every happened and we wanted to change that here in Connect.”
“I am thrilled with the way it was received and it will become an annual event, it will be hosted at this time of the year as it will coincide with International Men’s Day,” she added.
Many men from local businesses were recognised and there were some in the national spotlight too.
The lifetime achievement award went to Brian De Staic jeweller for his amazing work over the past 40 years and there was a special recognition for the community champion category which saw men from the county recognised for the voluntary role they play in the community. The overall winner of this was Junior Locke for his role with St Vincent De Paul.
Another very popular winner was Dara Ó Cinnéide of Virgin Media who won the Connect Kerry Man in Media Marketing and Events in association with Tralee Today.ie, with his guide dog Hansen stealing the limelight!

Spanning the spectrum of business, sporting, cultural and community life, there are 20 different award categories to recognise the many achievements of Kerry men at home and abroad across all platforms including sport, fin tech, entertainment, well-being, food and farming.

The Connect Men of Kerry Awards follows in the footsteps of the enormous success of the Connect Women In Business; Connect Hair and Beauty and the Connect Hospitality Awards.
Founder and owner of Connection Publications, Margaret Kissane, established the Men of Kerry Awards in direct response to demand from both men and women in the county who felt it was important to have an event that celebrated the achievements of Kerry men in the county, Ireland and internationally.
Kerry has produced many sporting heroes, entrepreneurs and social change advocates and the county has many unsung heroes who deserve recognition from their peers. The night also promises to be a wonderful networking opportunity.
Tickets are priced at €90 (plus VAT) and include drinks reception, gala dinner, the awards ceremony and entertainment. The evening will be hosted by Margaret Kissane and mc’ed by John Drummey.
In addition to the main award categories, there are a number of Special Awards which will be announced on the night.
The judging panel is composed of business and community leaders from across the county and their decision is final. The event is on the day before International Men’s Day which celebrates worldwide the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.
That’s the idea behind a new awards from Connect Publications as they prepare to celebrate the men of the county.

AFTER a break of two years, the Connect Kerry Hair and Beauty Awards returned on Sunday and it was a fantastic night at The Rose Hotel for those involved in the industry.
Over 270 people were in attendance and a plethora of awards were presented in a range of categories as well as honorary awards.
Publisher of Connect Kerry, Margaret Kissane, congratulated all the winners and thanked everyone who made the awards such a success, including the production team Will Nolan, Ray Stack, John Walsh Photography, Carmel Russell, all at The Rose Hotel and MC Sean Crowley.

IT’s your final chance to nominate someone for the Connect Kerry Hair and Beauty Awards taking place next month.
Over 400 ladies and gentlemen from the beauty industry in Kerry have been recognised for their dedication and performance in the hair and beauty Industry in Kerry since the awards were first presented in 2017.
The closing date for nominations for prospective recipients of awards must be submitted by Monday, February 14.

The Publisher of Connect Kerry Magazine, Margaret Kissane, said: “The awards celebrate and recognize the enormous talent and success of those who either own or work in the beauty business in Kerry.
“They are inspirational leaders and role models to their colleagues and those wishing to enter the beauty business in the future. We have been so long without a reason to get dressed up and have some fun this is the ideal way to reconnect with each other and recognise what is one of Kerry’s biggest industries.”
The 20 award categories are open to all in the hair and beauty business in Kerry, and when submitting the nominations they ask you to include the name contact details and why you are nominating them, to info@connectpublications.ie and they will then get in touch with the nominee.
Several honorary awards will be announced on the night and of course one person will be recognised with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
There will be a voting process where the public will be able to vote online — this will open on March 3 and will remain open until March 12 — and there will also be a Judging Panel which will comprise of individuals who have started or managed successful businesses throughout the county and beyond.
The names of the Judges will be announced in the coming weeks. The 2022 Connect Kerry Hair and Beauty Awards will be staged at The Rose Hotel on Sunday, March 20 which kicks off with a drinks reception at 3pm, four-course dinner with fine wines at 4pm.
The Awards Ceremony is at 5.30pm followed by the famous afterparty to dance the night away. Each guest will be treated to a goodie bag full of amazing treats valued at over €60 tickets are available for €90 + vat. For more information, contact info@connectpublications.ie
A FABULOUS afternoon of food and fashion was held at The Ashe Hotel on Sunday as Connect Kerry hosted their annual pre-Christmas Ladies Lunch.
Guests arrived at 1pm with bubbly, gin, and other treats, served up before lunch was served at 2pm with fine wines.
There was fashion advice from Danny Leane of Annburys while Mary O’Donnell from the Bon Secours Cosmetic & Hair Restoration Clinic explained what services are available at their new state of the art service.

CONNECT Kerry is preparing to host a fantastic event later this month, bringing ladies together safely for an afternoon of food and fashion.

THE party season in Tralee drew to a close on Sunday and Connect Kerry’s annual Ladies Lunch and Fashion Afternoon was a fitting way to see it out.
Around 80 ladies were in attendance at the event in The Ashe Hotel and they enjoyed some Skellig Gin or bubbly on arrival and could browse the fashion, crafts and food stands before going into the main room for a delicious four course luncheon with fine wines.

THE proprietor of Ballygarry House Hotel and Spa in Tralee, Pádraig McGillicuddy, was the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2019 Connect Kerry Hospitality Awards last night in the INEC Killarney.
He was one of 30 recipients at the gala event which celebrated all those who have contributed to the hospitality industry in Kerry over the past year.
The former President of Tralee Chamber Alliance and Chairman of Holiday Tralee, Pádraig McGillicuddy runs a hotel that has been an integral part of the Kerry community for over sixty years.
The event organiser and publisher of Connect Kerry Magazine, Margaret Kissane, said: “Kerry’s hospitality industry is admired throughout the country and internationally and it needs to have its own special event to showcase and acknowledge the high standards of product and service provided in this sector. It was a joy to be in the company of so many dedicated people who each play a part in the success of Kerry as a world leader in the tourism sector.”

CONNECT Kerry has delivered not one, not two, but 12 Apple iPads to Blennerville National School as a result of their ‘Support your Local School’ initiative.
Complete with storage cases and wireless keyboards these iPads will make a huge difference to the school said Principal, Robbie O’Connell.
“Blennerville NS were very fortunate to be Connect Kerry’s school for 2019. We won a competitive online poll and were thrilled to do so. We are extremely grateful to Connect Kerry and Margaret Kissane for the iPads we received today,” he said.

“For many years now we have always supported local with our events here in Connect and we are proud to say we have raised lots of funding for many charities over the years, however our new ‘Support your Local School’ initiative has been well received over the past two years, it enables us to give something back to that area of our community, Its imperative that in an era of technology kids will learn to use and understand this technology properly to take them safely into their teenage years,” said Margaret.
“We are already in the process of choosing the school that will benefit from the next school years fundraising activities, our five finalists will be announced on Monday November 11 and the public can vote for their favorite with the winning school being announced on Friday, November 15. We thank all those who support our events by attending and providing spot prizes as these are the people that we couldn’t not do all this without.”
A TRALEE businesswoman has been shortlisted for a national entrepreneur award. Margaret Kissane has received national recognition for her successful publishing and events group, Connect Publications.
She has been shortlisted from hundreds of nominations in the prestigious IMAGE Businesswoman of the Year Awards.
Margaret was officially announced last week in the shortlist of eight in the entrepreneur of the year (under €250k) category along with many other successful Irish businesswomen including Kathryn Thomas, Pure Results Bootcamp, Kate O’Moore, Creative Director, MAKER and Sandra Pokrant, Co-owner and Manager, Lulu + Belle.

The 13th annual IMAGE Businesswoman of the Year Awards will be held on Monday 25th of November in the Clayton Hotel, Burlington Road, Dublin.
Margaret established Connect Kerry Magazine in April 2014. She also publishes Connect Business (Quarterly) and produces numerous events including the Connect Kerry Businesswoman of the Year Awards, Connect Kerry Hospitality Awards, Connect Kerry Ladies Luncheon and the Connect Kerry Hair and Beauty Awards.

TWO women who have proved an inspiration for their hard work, professionalism and dedication over the years, were among the many ladies honoured last night at the 2019 Connect Kerry Women in Business Awards at the The Rose Hotel.
Dr Mary McCaffrey, Consultant Obstetrician and proprietor of the Scotia Clinic in Tralee was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, while a Special Appreciation Award was presented to Ann Laide, the proprietor of Caballs Toyshop on Bridge Street, Tralee.
Ann recently announced her retirement and the closure of the family business which has served customers for 99 years.
It was awarded in recognition of her family’s continued service to the parents and children of Kerry over many decades.
The event organiser and publisher of Connect Magazine, Margaret Kissane, said: “It was a pleasure to once again recognise so many wonderful ladies in business from all over the county. Now in its fifth year, the awards night is the highlight of the year for so many people who are thrilled to have their work appreciated, it’s refreshing to see so many new faces each year assuring us that business is alive and well in Kerry.”

OVER 130 ladies enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of food, fashion and much more at the annual Connect Kerry Ladies Lunch and Fashion Afternoon at the Ashe Hotel Tralee on Sunday.
With over €4,000 in spot prizes, many ladies didn’t go home empty handed and more than €2,200 was raised for Blennerville NS.
The event commenced at 12.30pm with a Christmas Bellini Reception and ladies availed of the final make up touches at Alfie’s Powder Rooms. There was lots of gift ideas on display too before guest retired to the main room for a delicious 4 course luncheon with complimentary wines.
