PETER Mark has honoured 117 members of its team for their contribution and long-standing service to the company, including three in the Tralee salon.
The Peter Mark Long Service Awards recognise employees from salons across the island of Ireland who have worked with the company for 10 years or more.
The Tralee-based colleagues awarded for their long-standing service were Ciara Foran (10 years), Subrina O’Regan (25 years), and Fiona O’Shea (30 years).

Of the 117 honoured, the average length of service was 20 years, with the years of service honoured from 10 years to 40 years.
Commenting on the Long Service Awards, Peter O’Rourke, CEO of Peter Mark said: “We are delighted to honour over a hundred of our colleagues for their long-standing service to the company. A TRALEE Peter Mark employee was among the 115 members of the company’s team to be honoured for their valued contribution and long-standing service.
Elaine O’Driscoll, who has 30 years service to Peter Mark Tralee, received a Long Service Award which recognises employees from salons across the island of Ireland who have worked at Peter Mark for 10 years or more.
Grainne Cronin, who has 10 years service in Peter Mark Killarney, was also honoured. Of the 115 honoured, the average length of service was 14 years with years of service honoured ranging from 10 years to 55 years.

PETER Mark salons in Tralee and Killarney will hold fundraising initiatives as part of the annual Petermarkathon this month.
The event which takes place in Peter Mark salons each year across the October Bank Holiday weekend has been extended this year to mark the 60th anniversary of Peter Mark.
This year the team will be raising vital funds for Pieta from Sunday, October 10 until Saturday October 30.

Each Peter Mark salon across Kerry has been given the task of coming up with its own individual and unique way to raise money this year, so visitors to their local Peter Mark salon in Kerry can expect, sponsored walks, raffles, games in salon, and many other fun-filled events over the course of both weekends!
Pieta provides professional one-to-one therapeutic service to people who are in suicidal distress, those who engage in self-harm, and those bereaved by suicide.
All monies raised will go towards supporting the ongoing work of Pieta to provide lifesaving services and help those in distress.
Commenting on the launch, Peter O’Rourke, CEO, Peter Mark said, “This is the 10th year of the Petermarkathon and over the last decade we are delighted to say that we have raised over €600,000 for Irish charities across the country. I am so proud of our team who put their heart and soul into this initiative every year and I know it’s a highlight on the Peter Mark calendar.
To celebrate our 60th anniversary, this year we want to go bigger and better than ever. We have extended the event to run over three weeks and we look forward to raising as much money as possible to support the important work of Pieta across the country.”

AS part of its Healthcare Heroes campaign, Peter Mark recently made a surprise delivery of gift bags to University Hospital Kerry to thank the hospital team for its work during COVID-19.
Healthcare Heroes is a nationwide campaign by Peter Mark to show its appreciation for healthcare workers by donating gift bags with hair and beauty products to local hospitals. Peter Mark has delivered 4,512 bags to local healthcare workers all over Ireland.

The campaign is the brainchild of celebrity stylist Adee Phelan who at the beginning of lockdown in the UK in March 2020 had an idea that he would like to give something back to the hardworking staff of the NHS.
Following on from the success of the campaign in the UK, Adee teamed up with Peter Mark to bring the campaign to Ireland.
Peter O’Rourke, CEO, Peter Mark said the hairdressing group was keen to get involved and provide support in any way they can. “It has been a challenging year for everyone but in particular the healthcare workers who are working so hard in extremely challenging circumstances. The Healthcare Heroes campaign is our way of showing our appreciation and saying a small thank you to them for everything that they do.”
THE ‘Petermarkathon’ is coming back to the Tralee salon. The annual fundraiser by Ireland’s largest hairdressing group takes place from October 26 – 28 in salons across the country including the one in Abbeycourt.
This year the Peter Mark team will be raising vital funds for the Irish Cancer Society to help support its Cancer Nurseline a free helpline staffed by trained cancer nurses, to offer a listening ear and practical advice to anyone who has concerns or questions about cancer.
Each salon across Kerry tasked with coming up with its own unique way to raise money, so visitors to their local Peter Mark Kerry salon can expect bake sales, pyjamas parties, fancy dress and lots of other fun events over the weekend!

PYJAMA parties, bake sales, fancy dress and funky hair styles, it’s that time of year again at Peter Mark in Tralee.
The annual Petermarkathon fundraiser is back and coming to Peter Mark at Abbey Court, Tralee from Friday 27th – Monday 30th October 2017.
This year, the Peter Mark team aim to raise much needed funds for The Simon Community and specifically contribute to maintaining the support facilities for homeless individuals in crisis as part of the “Make it Home” campaign.

The vital work of the Simon Community is needed now more than ever as Ireland faces a housing and homelessness crisis. The charity focuses not on managing but ending homelessness, ensuring that people on the edge maintain and keep their homes. The overall aim of the “Make it Home” campaign is to keep and ensure homes for some of the most vulnerable people in society.
All eight Simon Communities and The Simon Community Northern Ireland will partake in this wonderful campaign with each of the 71 Peter Mark salons in Ireland also involved. Funds raised will help local Simon Communities deliver vital services.
THE people at Peter Mark hair salon in Tralee are looking forward to pyjama parties, bake sales and fancy dress fun next weekend for their Petermarkathon fundraiser.
The team at Abbey Court will join their colleagues all over the country from Thursday, October 27 to Saturday, October 29 to raise funds for Women’s Aid and specifically contribute to keeping their much needed 24 hour helpline going, providing support to women and children in crisis.

Peter Mark Tralee manager, Michelle O’Shea, is looking forward to welcoming customers into the salon for the fun few days.
“Thursday we’re going to have a pyjama day and a bake sale with lots of nice treats. We’re going to have in-house games with prizes and raffles. On Friday we’re having a work-out day and then on Saturday we’re going to have a fancy dress, with prizes for the best costume among staff. It’s a great cause and hopefully we’ll raise a lot of money,” said Michelle.

Last October, the Tralee store helped in raising €60,000 for the charity Aware through the party weekend and they hope the public will be just as generous this year.
Women’s Aid is the leading domestic violence organisation in the Republic of Ireland which runs the only national, free, domestic violence 24-Hour Helpline with a text service for deaf women and an interpretation service which provides support to women in over 170 languages.
In 2016, despite a funding cut of 20%, Women’s Aid expanded their National Helpline to become a 24-hour service. Each day, they answer approximately 41 calls from women experiencing abuse from current or former husbands, partners and boyfriends.

WHEN you visit your local Peter Mark salon, you wouldn’t expect to see fancy dress parties, bake sales, and pyjama parties, but that was the case at two Kerry Peter Mark stores as they did their part in the€60,000 raised during the Petermarkathon in aid of Aware Ireland held last October.
The stores in Abbey Court, Tralee, and Scott Gardens, Killarney, can be proud of their contribution to the €60,000, which was presented recently to Aware, who do invaluable work in schools throughout Ireland through their Beat the Blues programme.

The money raised means this vital programme can continue to support Irish young people in our schools.
Beat the Blues is a programme delivered free of charge by Aware each year to some 30,000 students aged from 15 – 18 years old with a view to empowering this vulnerable group to help them understand how to look after their mental health and deal with everyday concerns before they spiral out of control.
Beat the Blues is a 70-minute programme and is very well received by students and teachers alike. It covers topics including principles for good mental health and actions that can help. The importance of looking at the positive aspects of our lives.
