THE Gum Litter Taskforce Summer Roadshow has teamed up with Kerry County Council to encourage people to bin their gum and help keep local streets, parks and public spaces cleaner.
The roadshow, which will arrive in Tralee Town Park, on this Saturday to coincide with the Festival, hopes to highlight how small everyday actions, like binning gum, can make a real difference for local communities while supporting Ireland’s move towards a more circular economy.
New research shows that while 82% of young people now believe littering is socially unacceptable, only 61% recognise chewing gum as litter.

However, the good news is that 92% of people now say they dispose of their gum properly, the highest level recorded since the campaign began.
As more people are out enjoying beaches, public spaces and all that Kerry has to offer this summer, the Taskforce will remind the public it’s an important time to remind people to be respectful and look after their local environment.
