Tralee Bay Swimming ClubWinter Swimming

The winter swimming has been a huge success this year. We had up to 27 swimmers one Sunday with the average amount being 14.

All swims were in Togs only and a great craic was had by all during the swima and afterwards enjoying teas, coffees and hot chocolates.

It was great to see so many enthusiastic swimmers, a lot of whom were newcomers. We will continue every Sunday up until March 29, when we will have a draw for The Easter Hamper and some Easter eggs for the kids.

We will also present the 2014 / 15 Winter Swimmer Award. All of these Sunday swims have been fun and non competitive. Everyone just went in and either had a dip or pushed themselves to do a bit more each week.

We had consistently low water temperatures for 3 weeks around the 5c mark at the end of January / early February.

It has risen dramatically since with last Sunday showing 9.2c.

2015 Swimming Season

The official start to the 2015 season is St Patrick’s Day. There will be a group going in at the beach c11 am, subject to change.

Keep an eye on Our Facebook Page. The official day for Late Starters is Easter Sunday time to be chosen. If you intend to go on your own, please be aware of the water temp and have someone keep an eye on you.

The recent AGM was a very amicable affair with a few great discussions and suggestions. All of the 2014 officers were more than happy to return to their posts and it was great to see some new enthusiastic swimmers attend.

This price does not include swim hats . Also this year it was agreed that any swimmer who will be doing the World Series swims MUST give one night to helping out either with kayaking , timing or barbecuing .
