Tralee Man Adapts His Film Screenplay Into Novella

.

A TRALEE film maker has adapted his screenplay on a proposed movie about Brian Boru into a novella.

Last September it was announced that Bertie Brosnan had teamed up with fellow Tralee man and Hollywood-based actor Timothy V. Murphy, for a short film about the legendary Irish High King Brian Ború, with a view to a future feature film.

However, Bertie said while they were ready to go into late pre-production in December 2023 for the proper scouting of locations — including Ballyeseede Wood — they have had to postpone the production indefinitely due to financial reasons.

However, Bertie has now adapted the screenplay into a novella called ‘The Forgotten Prince’. The book is available as an ebook in most stores for pre-orders at a discounted price. Bertie is still hopeful to develop his story into a movie if the funds can be raised.

Adapted from the screenplay King Brian & Brodír, The Forgotten Prince immerses readers in medieval Ireland, teeming with supernatural forces on the eve of the legendary Battle of Clontarf.

As High King Brian Boru prepares for a clash that will shape the island’s destiny, his son Donnchad grapples with his inner conflict because of his exclusion from the impending clash.

Visions and tensions within his ranks haunt the Prince, and he seeks his role amidst the rising conflict. Meanwhile, the enigmatic Viking-Pirate Brodír, a figure shrouded in darkness, weaves his threads of destiny across the battlefield as one of the would-be invaders.
