KERRY MONTH OF ENTERPRISE ENCOURAGES ONGOING BUSINESS GROWTH WITH OVER 50 EVENTS SCHEDULED

It was announced today that all local enterprise support agencies are teaming up to organise and host over 50 events across the county during March 2019 as part of the Kerry Month of Enterprise which takes place during March. Events are planned with the aim of increasing awareness of the range of supports and services available to enterprises across the county.

The events will cover a broad range of topics such as Succession Planning, Digital Strategy, Business Leader networking, Social Enterprise, Getting Ready for Brexit, how to tender for more work and close more sales.

In addition to one-to-one business clinics, start your own business bootcamps, finance workshops, trading on-line seminars, data protection briefings and Brexit-themed workshops, the partners will also be marking International Women’s Day with a series of events.

Welcoming plans for Enterprise Month 2019, the Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Norma Foley stated: ‘Creating more enterprise and jobs in regional and rural Ireland is a priority for the government. Kerry needs these supports to develop indigenous business and to attract Foreign Direct Investment. I am delighted to see that over 50 events taking place over the month right across the county to highlight the supports available to business and I would encourage businesses and individuals to avail of them.’

Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell said: ‘The new start-ups of today are the employers of the future, and we need to ensure as many as possible succeed. That is why Kerry County Council is on hand to support people embarking on their business journey through its Economic Development Unit and Local Enterprise Office. Supports are not just directed towards start-ups but our office is keen to engage with growing businesses capable of generating more employment.’

Head of the Local Enterprise Office in Kerry, Tomás Hayes, highlighted all the other supports that are on offer to new-start-ups in 2019, such as grants, microfinance loans, one-to-one mentoring and business advice clinics. ‘We need ongoing growth in our county. There are some very exciting developments in enterprise development such as the coastal innovation hubs, and the development of the sci-tech and agri-tech sectors, and we need to look to the future regarding new trends and technology advances. There is a wide selection of events on the programme for the coming month and I hope everyone will engage with them and learn more about what is on offer to enterprises in the county,’ he said.
