THE 16th running of the Ballymac Vintage Club Annual Classic Car & Honda 50 Run saw a big turnout from early on Sunday morning, with in excess of 100 vehicles registered.
There were all types of makes and models in attendance, with cars, vans and campers all taking part and many “new” old cars making their first appearance at a vintage and classic car event.
The event kicked off with a Cars & Coffee style event. A great opportunity for people to wander around, check out the cars, have a chat, and enjoy a cuppa and some refreshments.

Proceeds from the event were in aid of St. John of God Oilean Beo Castleisland which provides services for adults with intellectual disabilities, ensuring individuals can access vital services right inside their own hometown and also for the Kerry Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes
Organisers thanked all the helpers from both groups for their assistance and support in running the successful event.
We would like to thank everyone who generously supported the on-street collection in Castleisland on Saturday also. The final amount raised will be announced in the coming days.
A huge amount of spot prizes were given out throughout the morning, and a special word of thanks was expressed to all of the businesses and individuals for the generous donations to make this possible.
The main sponsors for the event were BG Motors Killarney, Brownes Agri Steel Castleisland & O’Riada’s Bar & Restaruant Ballymac.
The run departed O’Riadas shortly after 11am, taking the by-roads and the lesser-travelled routes via Castleisland before a brief comfort stop in Brosna.
Onwards then towards the Cork line and heading for Knocknagoshel for the finish. As in previous years, refreshments were provided by the team from Knocknagoshel Meals on Wheels. Their next event will be a Car & Tractor Run on Sunday, September 20.
