Senior Men
Tough Defeat at Strand Road: Kerins O’Rahillys 1-15 (18) | Glenflesk 1-25 (28)
Our senior men faced Glenflesk at home on Sunday afternoon in the final round of the County League. On a beautiful, sunny day at Strand Road, spectators were treated to a highly entertaining, fast-paced encounter that unfortunately ended in disappointment for the blues.
Glenflesk started the brighter side with early points from Tommy Bowler and Luke Crowley. The Blues grew into the game well, answering back with frees and sharp scores from play from Darragh O’Connor following excellent work by Ben Hanafin and Gearoid Savage.
After Glenflesk raised a green flag courtesy of Darragh Roche, the home side responded brilliantly. A long-range 2-pointer from Darragh O’Connor was quickly followed by an excellent team goal finished by O’Connor to level the sides. A superb defensive interception by Seamus Cahill denied Luke Crowley a late goal chance, leaving the teams deadlocked at half-time on 1-09 apiece.
Glenflesk seized control early in the second period, clinical with their kickouts and dangerous in attack. Long-range points from Tommy Bowler and Luke Crowley put the Blues under heavy pressure. Darragh O’Connor kept the scoreboard moving with a fisted point and a spectacular 2-pointer from the outside of his boot, while Shane McElligott added three excellent points from play as the blues probed continuously for a vital lifeline.
However, a clinical Glenflesk outfit held possession well and ran out winners on a final scoreline of Glenflesk 1-25 (28) to Kerins O’Rahillys 1-15 (18).
Relegation Heartbreak
Unfortunately, this result confirms our relegation to Division 2 for next season. Due to a change in the tie-breaker rules introduced this year, a three-team tie at the bottom is no longer decided by overall score difference.
Instead, positions are determined by a mini-league based on the head-to-head results between the tied teams.
Having lost our respective fixtures against Kilcummin and Gneeveguilla earlier in the campaign, the rule change regrettably condemns us to the drop.
The lads fought valiantly all season, and we have no doubt they will regroup and focus fully on the upcoming club championship campaign.

Senior Ladies
vs Beale: Our Senior Ladies team travelled away to Ballybunion for their final Division 3 league clash against Beale. Despite being down several regular players due to injuries and holidays, the strength of the panel was on full display as the squad put up a valiant, fighting performance.
In less-than-ideal conditions with a slippery ball, the girls notched some lovely first-half points but trailed at the break. Despite plenty of second-half opportunities, a determined Beale side held on for a 2-14 to 1-10 victory.
League Winners & Promotion: Despite the away result, the fantastic news is that our ladies have finished the campaign at the very top of Division 3, securing well-deserved promotion to Division 2 for next season!
Donal Curtin Cup Final: The squad moves straight into a highly anticipated Division 3 Cup Final against town rivals Austin Stacks. The match takes place this Monday evening, July 6th, at 7:30 PM in Caherslee. Let’s get a massive, loud blue-and-white crowd down to Caherslee to drive our undefeated league leaders over the line! Tickets can be purchased via the link on our social channels.
Squad Update: The club gives a warm welcome back to Aoife O’Connor, who has re-joined the panel for the summer months following her year of college studies in Scotland. It is great to see Aoife back in the blue and white jersey!
Juvenile & Co Go Games Updates
U12 Boys Go Games: Our U12 boys continued their Go Games campaign with a fantastic trip to Killorglin to play Laune Rangers. It was an evenly matched and highly entertaining evening of football, with top-class skills on display from both teams. The boys enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream together afterwards to wrap up a great outing. Thanks to Laune Rangers for hosting us.

U8 Girls vs St. Pat’s: Our U8 girls welcomed St. Pat’s of Blennerville to Ballyrickard for a wonderful morning of matches. The games were hotly contested, and our young players showed brilliant team spirit and progression. Well done to all the girls involved and thank you to St. Pat’s for making the trip.
Sunday Academy: It was an exceptionally busy morning at our weekly club academy with a huge turnout of young players alongside our U8 and U10 girls’ match schedules. Everything ran incredibly smoothly, and it is a joy to see the skills of our youngest boys and girls developing so rapidly each week.
