Kerry College of Further Education launches new Department of Performing Arts . A new suite of Performing Arts courses in Music and Dance has been launched at Kerry College of Further Education. From September, interested students can obtain a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Music or Dance with a number of focus areas including performance, theatre and music technology.

PRESS INFO -- Kerry College of Further Education launches new Department of Performing ArtsA new suite of Performing Arts courses in Music and Dance has been launched at Kerry College of Further Education. From September, interested students can obtain a QQI Level 5 Certificate in Music or Dance with a number of focus areas including performance, theatre and music technology.   The new courses will equip students with the knowledge and skills to perform dance or music in a number of styles as well as develop theoretical awareness of dance, music or theatre traditions. The course development was undertaken in partnership with Kerry County Council Arts Office, Siamsa Tire, the Institute of Technology, Tralee and local dancers, musicians and educators.  Work experience is an essential part of the course and will provide students with the opportunity to put their skills into practice. Students will work with choreographers, music industry professionals, theatre professionals and technology experts and also participate in the production of live performance.  The Level 5 Certificates will enable graduates to progress to Higher Education or undertake careers in theatre, dance, music, community arts initiatives, education programmes, event production and sound engineering.Carmel Kelly, Acting Principal at Kerry College of Further Education said “we are delighted to be able to develop a Performing Arts Department at Kerry College of Further Education. Kerry is a vibrant artistic and creative County and has produced musicians and dancers of national and international acclaim. Providing opportunities for dancers and musicians to study and work in Co.
