FOR the second year on the bounce the Churchill Drama Players theatre group will perform a ‘Springtime Variety Show’ for two nights in Siamsa Tire, but if you were hoping to get a ticket, you’re out of luck as they have all sold out!
The show will feature a cast of 100 from the Churchill and Spa areas on this upcoming Sunday and Monday nights.
Though the mood of the show is light and fun, because of the 1916 centenary, the group have decided to incorporate the events of the Rising into the performance.

“The finale of the show will be a tribute to 1916,” said the show’s director, Oliver Hurley. “We will celebrate what the 100 years anniversary is all about and we have some wonderful singers in that for us,” said Oliver.
Because it’s a variety show, it will feature a wide range of performances from young and old from across the parish. These include tributes to musicals such as ‘Matilda’ and the Elvis-inspired ‘All Shook Up’.
Due to the group’s proximity to the ocean, a segment of the show called ‘Songs of the Sea’ will look at the close links to the maritime tradition in the area. The Churchill Drama Players, have been performing now for 26 years and are still a thriving focal point of the community in Spa and Churchill.
