TRALEE CBS failed to win a Corn Uí Mhuirí final for the second year in a row in Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney yesterday afternoon, as Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne triumphed by 2-13 to 1-10.
It was a disappointing end to the Tralee side’s season as their challenge was effectively ended six minutes from time when the Dingle school’s captain, Franz Sauerland, punched the ball to the net.
CBS were right in the mix up to that point and enjoyed a very good opening half despite going in one point down to the favourites at the short whistle.
But the Dingle school were the better side in the second half and secured the title. In a classy gesture, as a mark of respect to the late Aodhán Ó Conchúir, the number 2 jersey was not used and Conor Ó Flanúra wore number 28 instead. Here’s some images from the day…
