THE rain stayed away all afternoon at Listowel Race Ladies Day on Friday where 30,000 people packed ‘the Island’ for an afternoon of fun and style.
TV personality and Kerryman, Daithi O’Se and top model Pippa O’Connor Ormond had the difficult task of selecting the 15 finalists from the very well dressed crowd.
In the end, it was a local lady, Mary Houlihan, who was crowned the most stylish of the afternoon with a head piece by Listowel born, Cork based milliner, Maria Stack and a hound tooth style shift dress with gold belt and knee length jacket purchased in Chic Boutique, sponsors of the competition.
Elaine Moriarty from Killarney the first runner up and Grainne Greville from Tyrone the 2nd runner up.
Sponsored for 25 years by Mary O Flaherty, owner of Chic Boutique in Listowel, this year the total Ladies Day prize fund was €9,000. The overall winner, Mary Houlihan, received a €2,000 voucher for Chic boutique, plus €500 in cash, and a limited edition print from artist Olive Stack. Elaine Moriarty, the 1st runner up, received a €500 voucher for Chic Boutique and €250 in cash and Grainne Greville , the 2nd runner up received a €250 voucher for Chic Boutique and €250 in cash. All of the 15 finalists also received a bottle of sparkling wine and a €150 Chic Boutique Goodie Bag.
