NEW car sales in Kerry last month were up compared to October 2023 according to the latest statistics from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
There were 34 new car registrations in the county in October compared to 28 in the same month in 2023, an increase of 21%. In the first ten months of 2024 there were 2,472 units sold in Kerry compared to 2,432 in the same period in 2023, a rise of 1.64%.
Nationally, new car registrations for October were up nearly 10% (2,421) when compared to October 2023 (2,208). Registrations year to date are slightly down — 119,664 compared to 121,134 in the first ten months of 2023 (-1.21%).

So far this year, Toyota is the most popular make of car in Kerry with 371 units sold, next Hyundai (308), Kia (294), Volkswagen (253) and Skoda (251).
Diesel is the most popular engine type with 747 units sold, next is petrol at 729 followed by Petrol Electric Hybrid (561); Petrol/Plug-In Electric Hybrid 210; Electric (204); Diesel Electric (Hybrid) 19 and Diesel/Plug-In Electric Hybrid (2).
