WELL-KNOWN Tralee entertainer and businessman, Mark Leen, has created his own musical tribute to the late David Bowie and it’s getting a lot of attention on Facebook.
The singer was a big fan of the musical icon who passed away on January 10 and posted a piece of poetry about Bowie on his Facebook timeline the morning he heard the news.

Later that day he went to Sonas Studio in Killarney to turn it into a song, ‘Our Last Flight With Major Tom’, and now he has posted up the song, with images of Bowie’s different phases of his life in a video on Facebook.
Mark makes reference to Bowie’s songs and song lyrics and the fact that David Bowie was born on January 8 – the same as Elvis Presley, Mark’s all-time inspiration.
Mark was joined on the song by Tony O’Flaherty and Brendan Williams on guitars, while the track was given its title by Francie Conway. The song has a real ELO/Jeff Lynne sound to it and you can listen to it below.
