EAMONN Fitzmaurice will be happy that a number of high-profile players are back in contention for places in their upcoming league games.
Colm Cooper, Kieran Donaghy and Marc Ó Sé are all available for selection for Sunday’s game against Down in Páirc Esler in Newry (throw-in 2pm).
Bryan Sheehan could also make a welcome return while his clubmen Aidan Walsh and Denis Daly of St Mary’s and Templenoe’s Tadhg Morley and Gavin Crowley are training with the Kerry squad after their All-Ireland winning heroics earlier this month.

Peter Crowley is also back in the reckoning but it may be a week or two too soon for him, Fitzmaurice told the Irish Independent. Paul and Mikey Geaney, Anthony Maher and James O’Donoghue are all still recovering from last year’s surgeries.
The return of such experienced players is exactly what Kerry needs now as they travel for the vital match up north. Having lost their opening two league games, they need a win to help try to avoid a relegation battle, while alternatively, it could kickstart a revival to put them into contention for the rest of the campaign.
