The match honours the memory of little Mary Kate Healy who sadly passed away a year after her first birthday in 2007. Mary Kate was diagnosed with a liver disease called biliary atresia, she spent about a year of her life travelling up and down to Crumlin for treatment.
Fundraising events have been held over the years in Mary Kate’s memory, including an annual walk. The Bons were the holders of the cup but had to hand it back over to the gardaí once more because O’Mahony’s decider.
