SAFEGUARDING 1 WORKSHOP.

The GAA is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all children who wish to take part in its games and activities.  As part of that commitment the Club hosted a Safeguarding 1 training event in the Clubhouse in Connolly Park on the 9th May last.  This training is a legal requirement for any individual who wishes to be involved in the coaching of children.  The training was organised by Dr Órlaith Griffin, the Club’s Children’s Officer, and was facilitated by Colette Murphy, GAA Safeguarding Tutor.  A number of coaches across various age groups actively participated in the training which was excellently received.

SENIOR FOOTBALL

Our Seniors travel to Dingle on this coming Sunday (21st May)for a 2pm start in round 7 of the Co. League. With a game on hand Dingle are currently 7th on the League table while we are in 9th position.

B FOOTBALL. Ballylongford 0-5; Austin Stacks 2-16.

In a very breezy but dry Ballylongford on last Sunday afternoon (14th May) our B team notched up their first Co. League points of the season with a good win over the home side. It was 1-8 to no score at half time with the elements in our favour during that first half.  However, our score was exactly the same in the second half (1-8) to 0-5 for the opposition. With three defeats and a draw in our opening four rounds the result had no effect on our position on the League Table which stands second from bottom. And the result in our final game of the League (at home to Duagh on this coming Sunday at 2pm) will not change that position. It was good however to see a far better display by our boys on this occasion which augers well for the forthcoming Championship.
