(iii) Foireann pheile shinsearach an Ghaelcholáiste faced off against Neidín i mbuaicphointe an tséasúir go dtí seo.
The school bus, containing the courageous cohort dár laochra Gael fhéin, hit the road go gCill Airne go luath Wednesday morning. The Dr Croke Club pitch was found to be in fine condition as the warm-ups commenced.
Rac Réaltaí Cian Ó Duilleáin, Marc Ó Loinsigh, Gavin Ó Cathasaigh agus Luke Ó Cathasaigh awaited the ref’s whistle attentively as they understood a tough contest would be in store. Sure enough Neidín took an early lead with the initial score.
Not long after this, fortunately, the Gaelcholáiste responded with a rousing goal from an tUasal Cian Ó Duilleáin (d’imir a athair críonna, Pat ‘Mullins’ Curtin, leis an gCarraig blianta fada ó shin) that gave muintir an Ghaelcholáiste the edge.
That decisive goal spurred his teammates into action and soon scores were being lofted over the bar in quick succession. Lucht an Neidín never permitted the match to become a write-off and continued to chip away at the lead in the second half. Yet it was ár ngaiscígh féin who held their form until the final whistle sounded.
Sár-thaispeántas gan aon agó a bhí ann and pobal na scoile are delighted that the foireann chaide shinsearach have returned to their winning ways so soon after the briseadh lár téarma.
Tá súil againn that this form can be maintained over the coming weeks….we’ll have full coverage of all further senior and U16½ fixtures in these Nótaí gan amhras! (Dáithí Ó Loinsigh)
