Date: Saturday 3rd August 2024.
Venue: Cromane.
The Ballymacelligott senior team and management travelled to Cromane last Saturday evening to play Renard in the first round of the Kerry Petroleum Premier Junior Championship 2024. The management and squad worked hard all season.
In Kerry, the Championship is everything at inter-county and club level. The Club Championship is the season’s highlight for every club, and Saturday last was a big game.
It was a challenging start for the Ballymac team as they had to line out without six key players who had played in the Premier Junior Final last October. Their absence was felt, but the players who started were determined to give their best.
The match began with Renard opening the scoring with a point, swiftly followed by a fine point from Ballymac’s Donal Daly, levelling the game.
Donagh Quinlan added another for the South Kerry side. Michéal Reidy levelled the game for Ballymac, and Aidan Breen added another to give Ballymac the lead after five minutes of play.
Renard continued playing against the stiff breeze, and Donagh Quinlan levelled the game with a point from a free.
With 15 minutes left in the first half, two fine points from Michéal Reidy gave Ballymac the lead again. Cromane scored their last point of the half from a free. Before the whistle blew, Ballymac added three more from Aidan Breen (f), Micheál Reidy, and James Kenny.
The Half Time score: Ballymacelligott 0-9 to Renard 0-5.
Brendan Kelly opened the scoring for Renard in the second half with a point from play. Two points from frees followed for both teams: Ballymac’s from Aidan Breen and Renard’s from Donagh Quinlan. The next ten minutes saw a lot of play, but neither team registered a score.
With fifteen minutes to go, Renard scored a mighty point from James O’Sullivan’s free kick. The score was Ballymac 0-10 to Renard 0-8. Aidan Breen extended the Ballymac lead by a point from a free. Renard’s never-say-die attitude showed them working hard, and they added two points.
It was now a one-point game. Aidan Breen scored a point from a free, and Fintan O’Sullivan scored a point from play for Renard. The referee blew the whistle. Ballymac had won the game by a point.
Final Score: Ballymacelligott 0-12 Renard 0-11.

Our upcoming game against Churchill on Friday, August 9th, at 7.15 pm, is a crucial one. It’s our final home game in the Junior Premier Club Championship, making it a must-attend for all our supporters.
It would be fantastic to have strong home support to cheer the team on, letting them know we stand with them at every game, proudly wearing our colours and giving them our vocal support.

Kerry Ladies
Congratulations to our Kerry Senior Ladies and our very own Roisin Rahilly on their impressive win in the All-Ireland Final on Sunday in Croke Park.
Ballymac took two buses to Croke Park on Sunday last to support the Kerry Ladies in their quest to bridge a 31 year gap since an All-Ireland win.
The journey was certainly worthwhile as our Girls put in a fantastic performance to bring home the Brendan Martin Cup.
A special thanks to the players who gave their time after the game to take pictures with our young players, great memories for them to have.
Ballymac had an involvement on the panel as Roisin Rahilly played during the League and also saw Championship action, starting against Waterford in the Munster Championship.
Senior Ladies
Ballymac Senior Ladies travelled to Listowel on Monday evening last in the final round of the Corrib Oil sponsored Senior League.
We dominated possession from the start and led at the break 1-5 to 0-1, Rachel Creedon scoring our goal with a good low finish to the net.
We continued to pressurise and forced the Emmets goalkeeper in to two excellent saves.
The home side got themselves back into the game with a goal, however Kate Collins goaled to ease the Ballymac nerves, and we ran out winners on a 2-12 to 1-1 scoreline.
Those who impressed on the evening were Ciara Kerins, Grainne Galvin, Jamie Lee O’Connor and Emma Daly in defence while Ashling O Connell and Roisin Rahilly held the upper hand in midfield while forwards Rachel Griffin, Keelin Enright and Sarah Scanlon also shone.
The side have now qualified for the final where they will play Kerins O’Rahillys which is due to take place on Monday 12th, all support would be greatly appreciated, please keep an eye on social media for confirmation of fixture.
North Kerry Teams
Busy Saturday for our boys on North Kerry Teams
U16 north Kerry: Micheal Quirke and Eoghan Joy, with the Kerry north u16 who had victory against West Meath. After a tough encounter extra time and penalties, we are looking forward to the Ted Webb cup final in a few weeks.
U15 North Kerry: Darragh McMahon and Jack Collins who both played their part as Kerry North u15s defeated Laois by three points in the semi-final of the Adam Mangan Cup which took place in Portlaoise on Saturday afternoon.
U14 North Kerry: Eric Quirke, Adrian O Connor and Gearoid Joy with north Kerry u 14 in Portlaoise successful games with wins against Laois and Longford…
Under 15 boys
Under 15 boys will play Division 5 semi-final this evening Monday 5 August 2024 at 5.15pm.
They will play Milltown Castlemaine away
