FAOI 13

Ballymac 3-04 Kerins O Rahillys 2-05

Played last Sunday morning in Caherslee Ballymac U13’s finished the season in fine style by winning the U13 Coiste Thra Lí Shield final by overcoming Kerins O Rahillys in an hard fought encounter. Ballymac started well & playing with a strong wind enjoyed the majority of possession but only went in at the break two points up. Kerins O Rahillys came into the game more in the second half and had us on the back foot for long periods and only for some last ditch defending the result could have been different. With ten minutes remaining our boys started to get control again and this was to prove the winning of the game with us picking off scores when we broke free.

Afterwards Colm Managan Chairman Coiste Thra Lí presented the shield to our captain Dylan Dunne Moriarty. In his speech Dylan thanked his team mates, referee, Kerins O Rahillys for a great game and also coaches Roland Rogers, Jack Culloty, Tommy Leen & Jer Lynch.
Also before the game started there was a minutes silence for our former President Jerome Mc Ellistrim who passed away recently.

CAILINI FAOI 13 – REVIEW
The under 13 girls played in the B championship competition which is the second grade for this age group . They were up against Legion in the first round in Ballymac playing some great football but it was in the next round which was the semi final which they really showed some great qualities. 22 of the girls made the trip to Templenoe on a very warm and humid evening to take on Kenmare district side Inbhear Sceine Gaels.

Against a physically stronger team, the girls showed heart, skill and determination to beat the locals, and leave them a bit shell shocked in the process! But this was only a semi final, and they had to do it all again against Desmonds in the final, which was played in Firies.

After an epic battle the girls won the trophy, and truly entertained all in attendance, even though it wasn’t good for the heart at times! The winning margin of one point  was a true reflection of the game, and alot of credit must go to Castleisland girls for this and making it such an encounter.

It was a case of the harder you try, the luckier you get. Caoimhe Carroll accepted the trophy on behalf of her teammates to great excitement. Mentors ; Kieran Savage , Donal Rahilly , Kieran O Connor.

CAILINI FAOI 12 – REVIEW
The under 12 girls panel for 2015 consisted of 30 players who all got game time throughout the year. A very healthy number indeed, and it was very encouraging as the year progressed, to see the majority of them stay the course.

The main objective for this age group is for each player to improve their skills and of course to have a bit of fun! As the year progresses, games get a bit more competitive, and they get to experience more of a challenge when they play.  The girls more than rise to the occasion and really show their pride in the jersey, and where they come from.

They began training in early February. They played their  first game in the North Kerry League against Na Gaeil, beating them, and went onto play Desmonds and Beale/Ballyduff  both home and away to win the North Kerry League Division 2 winning all games.

Then it was on to the county league preliminary rounds where the girls played Beaufort,Legion, Scartaglin,  Na Gaeil and Cromane. After winning four games from 5 they were entered in division 2A of the county league proper.

They started off on a winning note beating Spa at home and followed this with another victory over Castlegregory. Legion were up next and the girls came out on top again to go into our next game against local rivals Scartaglen full of confidence and they duly won this game after a great battle.

After winning four in a row we came up against a far superior Abbeydorney team in our final group game losing well in the end. Still the girls were in the semi final and were drawn away to Legion in Killarney.

Missing a few players  through holidays and injury, we lost by two points on the night . The girls couldn’t be faulted for effort on the night , leaving every ounce of energy on the pitch.

All in all it was a very good year for the girls, especially considering they were playing at such a high standard in the county at this age group.

The panel was as follows; Grainne Galvin , Millie Dunne, Roisin Long, Sophie O Donoghue, Ciara Palmer, Sinead Mc Keown, Cathy Palmer, Catriona Sommers, Emily O Donoghue, Cora Savage, Aylssa Leen, Laura Dunne, Aoife Galvin, Laura Dunne, Kate O Connor, Jade Riordan, Holly Geary, Emer Curran, Yvonne Hurley, Holly Geary , Ellie Linehan, Emma Leen, Bridget Sheehan, Roisin Rahilly, Geraldine Cassidy , Lorna Daly, Aideen Lynch , Laura O Shea, Shonagh Griffin , Laura O Shea, Katie Enright, Roisin Reidy.
Player of the year ; Emily O Donoghue.
Most improved Player ; Millie Dunne.
Many thanks to team mentors Kieran Savage, Kieran O Connor, Siobhan Leen and Mary Slattery for the huge amount of time and dedication they devoted to this squad.
