Have A Blind Date With Tralee Toastmasters

TRALEE Toastmasters will run a special ‘Blind Date’ theme night on Monday, February 6 in Kerins O’ Rahilly’s GAA Club starting at 8pm.

The format will run along similar lines to the popular ITV Blind Date show hosted by Cilla Black in the UK which was on our TV screens for 18 years.

The hosts for the evening, club members Vicky McCarthy and Anthony Garvey, will choose one male and one female member at random.

Based on the answers to impromptu questions, the ‘chosen ones’ will pick from one of three Toastmasters they would most like to go on a date with. But they will have to use their keen Toastmaster listening skills because they will be wearing a blindfold and will make their choice based on voice alone!

“Guests are very welcome on the night, but they can relax, they will not be thrown into the deep end, unless of course they let us know in advance they wish to participate,” said Anthony Garvey, VP PR for Tralee Toastmasters.

“We love running Toastmaster theme nights.  Recent successes include our Voice Oscars awards and Historical Figures night and we have more planned for later in the year.”

In keeping with a traditional Toastmasters’ evening there will be three prepared speeches sprinkled in among Monday’s festivities.

“The evening will showcase all that is good about Toastmasters,” Anthony Garvey continued.  “We’ll have impromptu speaking, prepared speeches, within a well-run, timed meeting and most importantly, as Cilla would have said, we’ll have a ‘lorra lorra fun’. “
