Busy Weekend At The Kerry School Of Music

IT was a busy weekend for the Kerry School of Music when they hosted a concert by a famed soprano on Saturday and then an awards ceremony in Ballyroe on Sunday.

London based Tralee born International Soprano Miriam Murphy returned to her alma mater, Kerry School of Music, to give an intimate song recital accompanied by school Director Aidan O’ Carroll on Saturday in the Fleischmann Studio.

While in Tralee, Miriam also coached some of the most talented up and coming student singers in the School. So impressed was she with the young singers that she invited five ofthem to share the platform with her in the evening recital.

On Sunday the annual presentation of awards and certificates took place in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.

School Director Aidan O’ Carroll presented certificates to students who had taken Royal Irish Academy of Music examinations and made particular mention of the high number of students who had been awarded High Achiever Recognition by the Academy.

Tara Dore was on hand to present awards to her Royal Academy of Dance exam students. Musician of the Year Ciara Holmes performed as did Student of the Year Shelley Hynes, the School Flute Choir and Senior Orchestra.
