Chinese Cultural Festival For Tralee Next Month

The Butterfly Girls Orchestra will perform at Siamsa Tíre next month.

A CHINESE cultural festival will take place in Tralee next month centred around an exhibition and performance by a popular Chinese music group.

The festival, taking place from July 25-19, will be attended by the vice governor of Zhejiang province, Jiwei Zheng and the Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, Jianguo Xu, and will serve to strengthen the ties between Kerry and the  Zhejiang province which has a population of over 50 million people.

There will be a free performance by popular Chinese artists, ‘The Butterfly Girls Orchestra at 1.30pm on Saturday, July 25, in Siamsa Tire, attended by the vice governor, the ambassador, the Mayor of Tralee and Council officials, followed by the opening of an exhibition of traditional Chinese craftsmanship at 3.30pm.

More details about the event will be finalised in the coming weeks.

The visit follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Chinese and Kerry County Council. Council officials visited the area in 2013 while the ITT also has strong links with the province through student and staff exchanges.
