Churchill GAA Club News

U14: Our U14s went on their travels to Listowel on Wednesday last, searching for their first win of the season.

We had a great start with 1-3 from Darragh O’Sullivan playing outfield for the first time which was answered by a goal from Listowel’s centre-forward. We moved ahead with three Eddie McCarthy points combined with scores from Mark Brick and Paddy Walsh to lead 1-9 to 1-1 at half-time.

Listowel started the second half with 2 goals to come back strongly but Eddie McCarthy replied with 1-3 to keep us as we were. Goals from Conor Brick, Eddie and Darragh kept Listowel at bay and we ran out 5-16 to 3-4 winners, with all players featuring in the game.

Players of note were Ben Donnellan, Adam Doyle, David Feeley and Harvey Brosnan. There was a noted improvement in sharpness and play over our first game and hopefully this progress continues.

This week we play in Castleisland on Wednesday and then have a week off over Easter until we are back training for our following match at Gneeviguilla on the 26th.

Minor: Following on from their victory over An Gaeltacht last time out, our minors travel to Glenflesk on Good Friday. Throw-In for that one is at 6:30. Come along and support the lads.

Senior: Our Seniors had a weekend off this week and are preparing hard for County Championship this Easter weekend.

We host Ballydonoghue in Churchill on Easter Monday, with a throw in time of 2:30pm with extra time if necessary. This should be good hard game against a team currently plying their trade two divisions above us in the Co League, so come along and support the team.
