IT took just 35 minutes for Coldplay’s gig in Croke Park next year to sell out, but that was enough for people who queued at B-Mobile at Manor West since 9am on Thursday to get their hands on the precious tickets.

Owner of B-Mobile, John McCarthy, had to disappoint about 20 people out of a queue of about 80 people who turned up hoping to get a chance see the rock superstars on July 8, 2017 in Croke Park.

“I thought they might have put on a second concert but it didn’t happen,” said John, who is the sole Ticketmaster agent in Kerry, when we visited this morning.

“We had people queuing since 9am yesterday morning. There was about 12 people around that time, but as the day went on, more and more people arrived right through the night,” said John, who opened up his second shop – the other one is in Dominick Street – in Manor West Retail Centre about three months ago.

“It’s a better set up for people queuing for tickets as there’s shelter outside. It wasn’t the biggest demand for tickets we’ve had, that was Garth Brooks, but Ed Sheeran was fantastic as well,” said John.

The tickets, ranging in price from €69.50 – €144, went on sale at 9am and were gone by 9.35am. We saw some very happy faces among those who put in the hard hours yesterday, no doubt going home for some sleep with a headful of dreams about the gig (sorry!)
