Tommy Walsh has left the Kerry panel.

IT has been confirmed that Tommy Walsh has left the Kerry senior football panel.

There had been speculation all morning that the Kerins O’Rahilly’s man has left the Kerry set-up after a report by Sports Editor of the Irish Examiner, Tony Leen.

This afternoon, the journalist from Ballymacelligott updated his story saying it has been confirmed to him that Walsh has told team management that he has withdrawn from the panel.

It is reported that the 28-year-old has grown frustrated at the lack of game time he has seen since returning to the Kerry panel after five years in Australia.

The 2009 All-Ireland winner was an unused sub in Sunday’s National League Final defeat to Dublin and also sat out the 2015 All-Ireland Final on the bench.

The Kerry panel has been given a week off this week ahead of preparation of their Munster Championship opener  on June 12.

This is a setback for Eamonn Fitzmaurice as he builds for championship as he is left with one less option in midfield or attack.

  1. Be a big loss should.have got more game time during the league.its a big blow as he would have been another option in a central role on the team.
