A MEMORANDUM of Understanding to develop a twinning relationship between Tralee and Beit Sahour, Palestine will be signed by the Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Graham Spring and the Mayor of Beit Sahour, Jihad Khair, during a ceremony in the Council Chamber at County Buildings on Monday.
The event will also be attended by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Ireland, Mr Ahmad Abdelrazek.
Cllr Pa Daly brought forward a motion at the Tralee Municipal District meeting in June of last year that the District formalise a twinning with the town situated near Bethlehem in Palestine.

Beit Sahour is as town of similar size to Tralee. The population is 80% Christian and 20% Muslim and is near the Shepherd’s Field of Bethlehem.
Later on Monday evening, an event hosted by Sinn Féin will be held at Kerins O’Rahillys GAA club where the public will have a chance to hear what life is like in a Palestinian town from the Mayor of Beit Sahour and his delegation. That event begins at 7.30pm and all are invited.
