A TRALEE restaurant which opened its doors for the first time in May, has won a top award.

Croí in The Square, which is owned and run by Noel Keane, Paul Cotter and Kevin O’Connor, won Best Newcomer (Munster) at the YesChef Awards 2018.

The restaurant has become a hugely popular spot for foodies since it opened due to the locally sourced ingredients and excellent food.

The three lads are also well known for their appearances as the ‘Tralee Culinary Gangsters’, at cookery demos around the county.

Another Kerry winner on the night was Sol y Sombra in Killorglin which won two awards for  Best World Food in Munster and in Ireland.

Established to celebrate the best of the best of all things culinary in Ireland, the YesChef awards brought dozens of finalists together for a  ceremony in The Limerick Strand Hotel.

The awards, founded four years ago, honour the work of Ireland’s hard-working chefs from across the island.
