€3.2 million has been allocated Clúid to build 19 social houses in the Mitchels/Boherbee area in Tralee.
In total €3.9 million has been allocated by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government to Cluid and St. John of God Housing Association.
€218k and €512k has been allocated to Clúid (an Approved Housing Body) and St. John of God Housing Association for the acquisition of two and five houses respectively.
€3.2 million is being provided to Cluid for the construction of 19 houses in the Mitchels/Boherbee area of Tralee.
Welcoming the announcement by Minister Alan Kelly, Labour TD, Arthur J Spring said: “This allocation is part of a package of funding outlined today by Environment Minister, Alan Kelly and the investment will be given to Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) to assist those with specific needs such as elderly people, persons with intellectual or physical disability and homeless persons. The newly acquired units will come on stream for people with a housing need this year while the newly constructed units will be completed by 2017.”
“The combination of this announcement along with the previous approval in April this year of funding of €62,028,669 for Kerry County Council to meet a target of 1058 social housing units by the end of 2017 is testimony to the Government’s commitment to deliver on its €4billion social housing strategy of 35,000 additional units nationwide out to 2020,” he said.
