FURTHER options for the development of visitor options at Fenit Lighthouse are to be explored after the success of public visits to the attraction over the past couple of years.

At Monday’s meeting of the Tralee Municipal District of Kerry County Council, Cllr Deirdre Ferris asked how many visits to Fenit Lighthouse have been booked and  facilitated through the Harbour office?

She was informed that to date the Harbour office in Fenit has facilitated 405 visitors to the Lighthouse since 2022.

Council management said the feedback from visitors availing of this service continues to be very positive and they are currently seeking funding to further enhance the lighthouse.

Fáilte Ireland has commissioned a feasibility study to examine visitor development options at Fenit lighthouse and the councillors will be updated on the findings of this feasibility study in due course.
