THE owners of the Fels Point Hotel, Dick and Eibhlin Henggeler have donated a total of €15,000 to two charities.

The Henggeler’s donated €5,000 to The Donal Walsh Livelife Foundation and €10,000 to the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus. The cheques were presented at the Fels Point Hotel on Wednesday afternoon.

The family have established The Dorothy Moriarty Henggeler Memorial Fund, in memory of their late daughter and former Washington D.C Rose, Dorothy, who tragically passed away in 2014.

Back in May, The Henggelers succeeded in their bid to purchase the Fels Point Hotel. In August, a monument to mark the opening of the Rose Walkway in the Town Park was unveiled dedicated to the memory of Dorothy Moriarty Henggeler.

The hotel will see refurbishment work over the coming months and will be rebranded The Rose Hotel next year.

The Community Foundation for Ireland looks after the family’s charitable giving through this Fund, and has distributed grants to many Kerry and national organisations in recent months.

The new manager of Fels Point, Mark Sullivan, and Marketing Manager, Michele King, presented a cheque for €5,000 to the Donal Walsh #Livelife Foundation which was accepted by Elma Walsh. The Kerry Cork Health Link Bus cheque for €10,000 was collected by Jay Galvin and Breda Dyland.
