AN ABBEYDORNEY native is hoping his company can add another BAFTA to its awards cabinet next month.
‘Roy’, created by Jam Media which is headed by a former CBS The Green student, John Rice, is up for two Children’s BAFTA awards in the drama and writers categories on November 23.
The show previously won the Children’s BAFTA for Best Drama in 2012 and has enjoyed huge success since it first aired.
‘Roy’ is set in Ballyfermot in Dublin and follows the titular cartoon character growing up with an unanimated family. It stars Simon Delaney of ‘Bachelor’s Walk’ fame.
John, who attended The Green in the late 80s/early 90s, has previously worked in animation for 20th Century Fox, MTV and as a character designer in New York.
JAM Media’s brands, which include ‘Tilly And Friends’ and ‘Baby Jake’ have been licensed to over 70 territories, translated into 23 languages and their programmes have been seen by over 12o million people.
