Former IT Tralee Student Wins Best Irish Film Award At Dublin Film Festival

A FORMER IT Tralee student scooped the Best Irish Film award at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

Glassland, a film directed and written by Gerard Barrett from Knockanure, near Listowel has already won numerous awards and acclaim.

It was filmed in Dublin, and stars Jack Reynor, Will Poulter and Toni Collette. Reynor won the Special Jury award for acting at the Sundance Film Festival last year in the World Cinema Dramatic section, while the movie won Best Film at the  Galway International Film Festival last July.

Gerard Barrett attended Tralee IT where he studied Film, TV and Media. He won the IFTA Rising Star Award at the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards in Dublin for his debut feature ‘Pilgrim Hill’ which was widely acclaimed.

The movie will open in cinemas on April 17.
