THAT was quick!
Former Kerry minor Mark O’Connor is set to make his AFL debut this weekend for Geelong Cats against Essendon less than eight months after making the trip to Australia.
The Dingle man has been upgraded from Geelong’s rookie list to its senior list, after a opened up last week when a midfielder was placed on the long-term injury list. (see highlights of his his recent performance below)
According the the Geelong Cats website, the 20-year-old, has been an impressive performer in the VFL in recent weeks and will add some pace and flair to the Cats’ midfield in Saturday night’s Powercor Country Festival game at the MCG.
He joined the AFL club only last October, when he was listed as a ‘Category B’ rookie under the AFL’s rules for promoting talent from non-Australian Rules backgrounds.
His improvement since then has been very impressive, hence his call-up to the senior list.
