THE ‘Build A Better Business’ networking evening generated much interest among the business community and was well attended in the Fels Point Hotel last night.
The event was run by the Kingdom Chapter of Business Network International, which helps people generate new business through networking and referrals.
“We’ve been running the Tralee group for about four years now and what we’re trying to do tonight is to grow the group because it’s been hugely beneficial to all our members,” said David Moriarty, chairman of the Kingdom Chapter.
The Tralee group has about 12 members but it could be doing a lot better said David, an architect by profession.
“A town like Newcastlewest who would be generated a turnover of about €4m a year in business, while the Tralee group only has about €1m. What we want to do is get up to a performance similar to Newcastlewest who would have about 20 members,” said David who explained that the monies mentioned are generated through business referrals.
“There are many primary benefits such as financial performance and business growth, but also secondary benefits like improved public speaking skills and establishing good contacts. It’s all about getting out there on a weekly basis to get your message across,” said David.
Speaking after the meeting David said he was delighted with the interest shown by those who attended.
“We had about 20 visitors on the night and most felt it was an enjoyable and worthwhile evening.
Many showed great interest and agreed to come to our meeting next Wednesday to see the structure, what’s involved and the commitment and performance expected,” he said.
